Building Plans

2009

This client initially planned to install a formal fountain using a poured cement basin with an external cement pump vault--quoted at $25,000. Since the project involved an excavation large enough for cement forms, plumbing for skimmers and drains in the forms, rebar to hold it together, special mix so it could be blown in, a plaster face to waterproof...and finally the finish materials...the cost was not surprising.

Dave offers a reasonable alternative to this expensive and labor intensive technique.  With the plans for the basin shown here, you can create a formal basin with a remote pump vault for 10% of the original bid, all with incredible results. Using local products (with the exception of the pump vault from Washington State), the pictured basin was built over three weekends.
